Program Lead, Generative AI and the Work of the Future

Julie Diop is program lead for the MIT working group on Generative AI and the Work of the Future. She is also Director of the Manufacturing@MIT Working Group.  Since joining MIT in 2016, a large focus of her work has been on building training programs for technicians and engineers, through online courses, in-person academies, and boot camps. She helped organize a Manufacturing@MIT Distinguished Speaker Series, a faculty study group focused on the future of manufacturing, and an annual symposium. Before joining the Manufacturing@MIT Working Group, she was the Executive Director of MIT’s Initiative for Knowledge and Innovation in Manufacturing. Through her projects, she has worked closely with federal and state government agencies, non-profit organizations, community colleges, and partner universities.

Previously, she worked for 13 years at the NPR show On Point, where she closely followed domestic and international affairs and called on experts from around the world.

She completed her BA in math and anthropology from Oberlin College, MBA in finance from the University of Chicago, and MA in business journalism from New York University.
