Carlos Martinez-Vela

Carlos Martinez-Vela was a Senior Researcher at the IPC and worked on issues related to the innovation economy and regional systems of innovation. He examined models of Research and Technology organizations globally and how countries and regions are facilitating greater R&D in the private sector through these third-party intermediaries. Carlos is now President and CEO at the Hub of Human Innovation in El Paso, Texas. Before joining the IPC, he was Director of the Venture Café, the non-profit arm of the Cambridge Innovation Center. Before joining CIC, he was the Director of Innovation Policy for the state of Massachusetts’ economic development agency, the John Adams Innovation Institute within the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. He holds a PhD in Technology, Management and Policy from MIT.
